What International Communications are There in Jordan?
If you have a roaming mobile phone that belongs to the GSM system, it will work in Jordan as well. The hotel offers international communications, wireless Internet access and fax machines when required. Internet cafés are inexpensive and plentiful in metropolitan areas, with a dependable connection. You can also buy a local mobile phone card which is relatively inexpensive, from any of the three mobile telephony providers.

What is The Weather Like in the Country?
Jordan has a climate that is semi-arid to arid in the east. The summers are hot and dry in the country, with high temperatures between May and September. Winter is cool and sometimes cold in certain places, with possible snowfall at higher altitudes. Rain occurs between November and February. Spring and autumn in Jordan are mild and pleasant.

Do I Need a Visa to Visit Jordan?
All western nationals (UK, US, Australia, Canada, EU, Ireland, New Zealand) need a visa but can obtain it at the airport. Note that visa requirements often change and it is best to check ahead of time.

Is Jordan Safe?
Jordan is considered a very safe country with a low crime rate. People are very helpful and courteous in general, but getting lost in underprivileged neighborhoods is not advised. Overall, the crime rate is definitely lower in the country than elsewhere in the world, although common-sense precautions are advisable.

What is the Dress Code Like?
Easy going. You can dress practically anyway you like. You will see some Jordanians wearing traditional dress as well as many wearing western dress and up-to-date fashion clothing. When traveling to more traditional areas and holy sites, modest dress is recommended such as covering the shoulders for women and knee-length pants or dresses. Women will only need scarves when visiting a mosque.

What Languages are Spoken in Jordan?
All Jordanians speak Arabic, and English is widely spoken in the main cities.

What is the Time Difference in Jordan?
Jordan is at GMT +2 hours, which makes it in the same time zone as Helsinki, Athens and Cairo. It is only an hour ahead of most of central Europe, and 7 hours ahead of New York.

What is the Currency in Jordan?
The Jordanian dinar (JOD or JD) is divided into 100 qirsh or piastres, and 1000 fils. One Jordanian dinar is about one euro, or 1.40 dollars depending on the exchange rate.
